1. Mirror Lake State Park

Known for its pristine waters and modern visitor amenities, Mirror Lake State Park is a fantastic place to spend a weekend away from the city and enjoy some relaxing time in nature. This nature reserve covers an area of a little under 2,200 acres and was established in 1962 by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Mirror Lake State Park is located about 90 miles northwest of downtown Oconomowoc and can be reached in just one hour and a half via route I-94. Some of the features you can find while exploring this public recreation area include a large campground with over 150 sites, kayak and canoe rental shops, and about 30 miles of hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing trails.


2. Lake Kegonsa State Park

Another picturesque lakeside park located about 50 miles west of Oconomowoc, Lake Kegonsa State Park encompasses a little under 350 acres and opened its doors to the public in 1962. This nature reserve offers access to Lake Kengosa, a natural body of water created by a glacier and spanning a surface area of over 3,200 acres.

Driving from the Oconomowoc city center to Lake Kegonsa State Park takes a little under one hour by car via route I-94. Once you make your way here, some of the activities you can enjoy include swimming, boating, water skiing, sailing, and fishing. This state park is also a popular camping destination, with a large group campground featuring 96 sites, picnic areas, reservable shelters, and well-maintained toilets.


3. Big Foot Beach State Park

Sitting on the shores of Lake Geneva, Big Foot Beach State Park is a magnet for local anglers and a fantastic place to take a break from the urban bustle. Established in 1949, this place covers an area of about 270 acres and features several camping spots, a swimming beach, fishing piers, and hiking trails. Getting here from downtown Oconomowoc takes about one hour via WI-67.
