Electric vehicles or EVs are popping up everywhere, including several options from Chevrolet. Chevy currently offers the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, with plans to add a Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV within the next year. Here are the top four reasons to buy a Chevrolet EV when you decide to go electric.

1. Cheaper to Drive

Electric vehicles are approximately 40% cheaper to drive on average when compared to traditional gasoline vehicles. You can reduce the cost of running an EV even more by charging with a solar PV system or at free charging stations across the country. You also have fewer moving parts in an EV, making routine maintenance and servicing of an electric vehicle cheaper and less frequent than traditional vehicles. EVs don’t require oil changes, timing belts, or spark plugs found on gasoline or diesel-powered engine.

Although all EV batteries eventually degrade or become less efficient, most vehicle manufacturers offer a warranty on their batteries for up to eight years, which is longer than most people drive a vehicle.

2. Better for the Environment

Chevy EVs are better for the environment because they reduce harmful air pollutants and emissions from being released into the air we breathe. Electric vehicles have zero exhaust emissions when running but may create a small amount of greenhouse gas emissions when charged. Better air quality translates to better overall health, thus reducing health costs and problems associated with air pollution. EVs also reduce noise pollution as they’re much quieter to run.

3. Instant Torque

With an electric engine, the torque is instantaneous, providing you with smooth acceleration when taking off from the starting line, freeway entrance, or from the stop light. You’ll also have a lower center of gravity, improving your EVs responsiveness, ride comfort, and handling. Formula E, local drag strips, and thousands of EV drivers attest to the peppy driving performance offered via the instant torque of electric engines.

4. Convenient Charging

With an EV, there’s no need to shop around to compare gas prices at your local stations. You can charge at home at a lower and more predictable cost. The added convenience of plugging in before you go to bed to wake up to a “full tank” every morning makes an electric vehicle attractive to many drivers. EVs charge from a standard 120-volt household outlet, a 240-volt Level 2 charging station that can be installed at your home, and DC Fast charging stations located across the nation.

Chevrolet EVs

You can enjoy a 259-mile range on the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV with a zero to 60 of just 6.5 seconds. For the EUV, you get 247 miles and a zero to 60 of 7 seconds. The up-and-coming EVs from Chevrolet include the Silverado, offering a 400-mile electric range and zero to 60 time under 4.5 seconds. The Silverado EV also features over 600 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque to compete with any traditional truck. The Blazer EV will be available summer of 2023 with a 320-mile range and zero to 60 rating under 4 seconds. For fall 2023, Chevy releases the Equinox EV with a 300-mile range.
