In Oconomowoc, WI, you have some great choices for breakfast. For those days when you don’t want to cook for yourself or wolf down a bowl of cereal – yet the idea of a greasy fast-food breakfast sandwich makes your stomach churn – we have the answer. No one will blame you if they hear the roar of your Chevy Silverado as you power down to one of these best breakfast places in a hurry.

Worth the Morning Drive: Three of the Best Breakfast Places Near Oconomowoc, WI

Lake House Cafe

The Lake House Cafe is found at 662 E Wisconsin AVE, and they open at 6:30 every morning. The staff here are great and will go out of their way to accommodate your needs if they can. The atmosphere is gorgeous, too, and they serve breakfast all day, so there’s never a time you can’t get that Belgian waffle you’re dreaming of.

Speaking of waffles, the Belgian Waffle Combo here is great. It’s half a waffle (still huge) with two eggs any style and your choices of bacon or sausage. We’re also big fans of their strawberry pancakes, the California skillet with avocado, bacon, Swiss cheese, peppers, and onions, and any of their breakfast burritos. If you’re really hungry, go for the Super Meat Supreme three-egg omelet. It comes with your choice of toast or pancakes and potatoes or fruit.

Maxim’s

Maxim’s is such a cool spot at 115 E Collins St, at the Oconomowoc Depot. They serve up amazing breakfast starting at 7am every day but Sunday, when they open at 8am. This spot has great service, good food, and a really fun atmosphere. Your kids will love eating in the dining car and checking out the train set. And the food here is great: there are plenty of gluten-free options, too, which is very welcome.

We’d recommend their banana walnut pancakes all day long. The gluten-free Nutella crepes are also amazing, topped with sliced bananas and strawberries in addition to Nutella and sweetened cream cheese. If you want something lighter, try their strawberry bruschetta or the avocado toast.

S&J Cafe

Do you really live in Oconomowoc if you haven’t had breakfast in this iconic spot? S&J’s is at 113 S Main St and opens from 6am until 2pm Tuesday through Saturday (but, be aware that they close at 1pm on Saturdays). This is the place to go for amazing homecooked food, good prices, and what’s just obviously the best breakfast in town.

You’ve got to try one of their made-to-order omelets, which comes in one, two, and three-egg versions. They do great breakfast sandwiches which you build yourself: choose your bread, then your egg style, then your meats and cheeses and any additional toppings you want. You’ll also want to try their biscuits and gravy.

When you’ve got a full stomach and had a great breakfast, come see us at Ewald Chevrolet Buick for great service to keep your Chevy running right.
